Tarot Card Draw Screensaver
The Tarot Card Draw screensaver turns over a new Major Arcana card at intervals for atmosphere. It is free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the Tarot Card Draw screensaver works
The saver cycles through the 22 Major Arcana cards in a shuffled order.
Each card flips into view with its name and a traditional keyword line.
A fresh shuffle starts once the deck runs through all 22 cards.
Everything runs locally — no network, no key, no personal data.
A short history of the Major Arcana
Tarot emerged in northern Italy in the mid-fifteenth century as a card game, when extra allegorical trump cards, called trionfi, were added to a standard four-suit pack. The name tarocchi came later. There is little historical evidence of significant use of the cards for divination until the late eighteenth century, when Antoine Court de Gébelin and Etteilla in Paris popularised esoteric readings of them.
The occult 78-card deck has twenty-two Major Arcana, The Fool plus twenty-one trumps, and fifty-six Minor Arcana in four suits of fourteen cards. The Major Arcana include figures like The Magician, The High Priestess, Death and The Tower. The Rider-Waite-Smith deck of 1909 is the source of imagery many people picture today.
Numbering varies by tradition; Strength and Justice swap their numbers (VIII and XI) between older and newer decks. The keyword lines that go with each card are conventional associations rather than predictions, and the saver treats the cards as imagery to enjoy.
A worked example
A card like The Star flips into view with its traditional keyword line, then holds before the next card turns.

Frequently asked questions
- Is this a real tarot reading?
- No — it is a labeled entertainment feature that shuffles cards for atmosphere, not a prediction.
- Which cards are included?
- The 22 traditional Major Arcana cards, each with its classic keyword meaning.
- Is a key needed?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser.
- Is it free?
- Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
- Why is The Fool numbered zero?
- In the occult 78-card deck The Fool is counted apart from the twenty-one numbered trumps, so it is usually given zero, though some traditions leave it unnumbered.
- Are the Minor Arcana part of tarot too?
- Yes. A full deck has 56 Minor Arcana in four suits as well, but only the 22 Major Arcana are shown here.
- Do all decks use the same card meanings?
- No. Names, numbering and keywords vary between decks and traditions, so a stated meaning is one common reading among several.
