How the Singapore Car Parks screensaver works

The saver reads the source described above and draws it on a canvas — no account, no tracking.

How many spaces are free in every public car park in Singapore right now, from data.gov.sg, key-less. The live feed names car parks only by code, so a second key-less dataset is joined once to turn those codes into street addresses.

It refreshes on a schedule, so what you see stays current.

Colours and any options can be changed in settings; nothing is stored beyond your own browser.

Reading Singapore's car park availability feed

Singapore publishes car park availability through data.gov.sg, the government's open data portal. The feed reports, per car park, a timestamp and counts of total lots and lots available, broken out by lot type. Third-party write-ups of the feed describe it as refreshed about every minute and covering roughly 2,000 car parks.

Lot types are reported separately: in examined snapshots C meant car lots, Y motorcycle lots and H heavy-vehicle lots, so a car park can count each category on its own. The feed identifies sites by a short code and carries no coordinates, which is why this saver joins a second dataset to translate codes into street addresses. When a code has no match there, the label can be missing.

Freshness is per car park, not per response: individual records have their own update times, and one analysis found hundreds of records more than 15 minutes old when the file was fetched. The figures are a point-in-time count of lots, not a promise that a space will be there when you arrive, and they do not describe the rules or charges at a site.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real data?
Yes — it comes from the source named on this page and is refreshed on a schedule.
Is a key needed?
No. This source is fully key-less.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
Why do some car parks show a code instead of an address?
The live feed supplies only codes. Addresses come from a separate lookup, and a code missing from it cannot be translated.
Why can a car park look out of date?
Each car park record carries its own update time, so some entries can be older than others, and a count may change before you arrive.
