Yes — it comes from the NHL and is refreshed on a schedule.

Why is it showing games months away?

Because the NHL is out of season. The league's own feed returns the next season's opening week, and the board labels those as scheduled rather than implying they are live.

How many teams are in the NHL?

There are 32 teams, 25 in the United States and 7 in Canada, split into the Eastern and Western conferences with two divisions each.

How many games does a team play?

Each team plays 82 regular-season games, typically from October to April. Sixteen teams then enter the Stanley Cup playoffs.

How does a game end in a tie?

It does not. A tied regular-season game goes to a five-minute three-on-three overtime and then a shootout. Playoff games continue with sudden-death 20-minute periods until someone scores.

Reading an NHL schedule, from preseason to playoffs

The National Hockey League has 32 teams, 25 in the United States and 7 in Canada, in two conferences of 16 and four divisions: Atlantic and Metropolitan in the East, Central and Pacific in the West. Each team plays an 82-game regular season, typically from October to April. Sixteen teams then qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs, a four-round tournament that runs into June.

A regular-season game tied after three 20-minute periods goes to a sudden-death overtime of five minutes with three skaters a side, a format used since the 2015-16 season. If nobody scores, a shootout decides it. In the playoffs there is no shootout: teams play full-strength 20-minute sudden-death periods until someone scores, and some games have run to five or six overtimes.

Overtime and shootouts mean a final score alone does not always describe how a game ended. This board is a schedule and scoreboard, not a statistics service, and it does not carry player data. A game that is postponed or rescheduled can change after the schedule is first published.
