How does this differ from other music charts?

Each service ranks music using its own data, and Deezer does not document the exact method behind its chart. The order can therefore differ from charts built on other platforms or on retail sales.

What does the explicit marker mean?

Deezer's track data includes an explicit-lyrics field, and the saver displays it. It reflects the data Deezer supplies, not a judgement made by the saver.

Deezer Charts Screensaver

The Deezer Charts screensaver shows what is being streamed most on Deezer right now, gathered key-less by the pipeline. A different listener base from the site's other music charts, so the ordering often differs noticeably. It's free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.

How the Deezer Charts screensaver works

The background pipeline reads this from Deezer and saves a snapshot the saver loads.

What is being streamed most on Deezer right now, gathered key-less by the pipeline.

It refreshes on a schedule, so what you see stays current.

Colours can be changed in settings; nothing is stored beyond your own browser.

How to read the Deezer chart

Deezer is a music streaming service founded in 2007 and headquartered in Paris, France. Its public API has a chart endpoint that returns a list of top tracks on the platform, and each track object carries a position, a title, the artist and album, a duration, a rank value and an explicit-lyrics flag. The saver reads that list and shows entries from it.

The chart reflects what Deezer ranks highly on its own service, so it is a view of one platform rather than of the whole music market. Deezer says it is available in more than 180 countries and territories, but its public documentation does not spell out how the default chart is computed, so treat the ordering as Deezer's own and compare it with other services' charts with that in mind.

The explicit-lyrics fields are part of the track data Deezer returns, and the saver only displays what is supplied. A chart like this is not a count of sales or radio plays, and rankings can shift between refreshes as new releases arrive.
