Wikipedia New Article Creation Feed Screensaver
The Wikipedia New Article Creation Feed screensaver streams real brand-new Wikipedia articles as they're created. It is free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the Wikipedia New Article Creation Feed screensaver works
The saver reads real new-page creation events from Wikipedia's own recent-changes API.
Each entry shows a real new article title and its real creator's username.
The pipeline refreshes the feed regularly as new articles are created.
No key is required for this key-less public endpoint.
Where new Wikipedia articles come from
Every time someone creates a page on Wikipedia, MediaWiki records it in the recent-changes log as a page creation, and the recent-changes API can be filtered to creations alone. On English Wikipedia, creating a new article requires a registered account that is autoconfirmed, meaning at least 4 days of activity and 10 edits, so unregistered visitors cannot start one.
New pages are then reviewed by volunteers in the New Pages Patrol. Reviewers look first for attack pages, copyright violations and vandalism, then check sourcing and notability. They can mark a page reviewed, nominate it for deletion, move it to draft, or leave it to another reviewer. Pages that are unambiguous advertising, nonsense, or give no indication of importance can be tagged for speedy deletion, so a title appearing here has not passed any test.
The username shown is whoever created the page, not necessarily its main author. Pages are sometimes started by moving or splitting existing text, in which case the creator is not the original writer. A new title tells you nothing about subject, quality or whether the entry is accurate.
A worked example
A real brand-new article title created by a real Wikipedia editor scrolls past exactly moments after creation.

Frequently asked questions
- Is this real Wikipedia data?
- Yes — real new-article creations from Wikipedia's own API.
- Is a key needed?
- No. Wikipedia's recentchanges API is fully key-less.
- Is this different from Wikipedia edits?
- Yes — this shows only real brand-new articles, not edits to existing ones.
- Is it free?
- Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
- Do new Wikipedia pages get reviewed?
- Yes, by volunteer new page patrollers, but the page already exists while it waits, so new titles in the feed have not necessarily been vetted yet.
- Why do some of these pages disappear?
- Pages that are advertising, nonsense, or give no indication of importance can be speedily deleted, and others are nominated for deletion or moved to draft.
- Is the listed user the main author?
- Not necessarily. The username is who created the page, which can be someone splitting or moving content that others wrote.
