US Revenue Leaderboard Screensaver
The US Revenue Leaderboard screensaver shows the largest quarterly revenues companies actually filed with the SEC, read from XBRL frames by the key-less pipeline. Reported figures, not estimates, for a settled quarter. It's free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the US Revenue Leaderboard screensaver works
The background pipeline reads this from SEC XBRL frames and saves a snapshot the saver loads.
The largest quarterly revenues companies actually filed with the SEC, read from XBRL frames by the key-less pipeline.
It refreshes on a schedule, so what you see stays current.

XBRL frames: one fact, every company
US public companies file their financial statements with the SEC in XBRL, a tagging format that labels each reported number with a concept such as revenue, a period and a unit. The SEC publishes this structured data through APIs on data.sec.gov. One of them, called frames, returns one fact per reporting entity for a given concept, unit and period, so a table of the largest revenues becomes a simple sort.
Companies have different fiscal calendars, so each frame is assembled from the reported dates that best align with the requested calendar quarter or year. Quarterly frames cover a duration of about 91 days, give or take 30, so the start and end dates of individual facts can differ slightly from the nominal quarter. Where several facts exist for an entity, the API aggregates the one that was last filed and most closely fits the period.
There are limits worth keeping in mind. Companies choose among several revenue tags, and not every large business appears under the one the query uses. The figures are as filed, so later changes may not be reflected. Revenue is the top line, not profit or size of workforce, and the ranking is not a recommendation or a valuation of any company.

Frequently asked questions
- Is this real data?
- Yes — it comes from SEC XBRL frames and is refreshed on a schedule.
- Why isn't this the current quarter?
- Because a quarter's frame fills up only as filings arrive. The saver walks back to the most recent quarter that is actually populated, so the figures are complete.
- Is a key needed?
- No. This source is fully key-less.
- Is it free?
- Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
- What is a CIK?
- It is the Central Index Key, a number the SEC uses to identify each filer, used to look up a company's filings.
- Why might a large company be missing?
- It may have reported revenue under a different tag or not yet reported the period in question.
- Is revenue the same as profit?
- No. Revenue is the total income from sales before costs are subtracted, so a company can have high revenue and low or negative profit.
