How the SEC Filings Feed screensaver works

The saver reads the real live SEC EDGAR current-filings feed.

Each entry shows a real form type, filer company and filing time.

The pipeline refreshes on the SEC's own continuous filing schedule.

No key is required for this key-less public endpoint.

What gets filed on EDGAR

EDGAR is the US Securities and Exchange Commission's electronic filing database, where public companies, funds, insiders and other filers submit disclosure documents. Its search tool covers the full text of electronic filings since 2001. The current-filings feed lists documents shortly after they arrive, with each entry giving a form type, the filer's name and a timestamp.

The form type tells you what kind of disclosure it is. An 8-K reports a current event, a 10-Q is the quarterly report and a 10-K the annual one. Forms 3, 4 and 5 are ownership reports for insiders: Form 3 is the initial statement, Form 4 reports later changes in ownership, and Form 5 is an annual catch-up report. Directors, officers and owners of more than 10% of a registered class of equity must file them.

Insiders file in their own names, so a feed like this shows individual people alongside companies. A filing is a disclosure, not an endorsement or a signal about the stock. A single insider sale or purchase can have many ordinary reasons, and the feed lists documents in arrival order rather than importance. Nothing here is investment advice.

A worked example

A real Form 8-K or 424B2 filed moments ago by a real public company scrolls past exactly as EDGAR recorded it.

Settings & tips

Frequently asked questions

Is this real SEC data?
Yes — real newly-filed documents from the SEC's own EDGAR feed.
Is a key needed?
No. The EDGAR current-filings feed is fully key-less.
How often does it update?
The pipeline refreshes hourly; EDGAR itself updates continuously.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
Why are some filers people rather than companies?
Insiders such as officers, directors and large shareholders file ownership reports under their own names, so individuals appear alongside the companies they are connected to.
What do the form numbers mean?
Each form type is a standard disclosure category, for example 10-K for annual reports, 10-Q for quarterly reports and 8-K for current events.
Does a filing mean something notable happened?
Not necessarily. Many filings are routine, and the feed does not rank them by significance.
