How the TradingView Chart screensaver works

The saver loads TradingView's official, free Advanced Chart widget and points it at the symbol you choose.

It's a real interactive chart — candles, timeframes, indicators and the symbol search all work, just like on TradingView.

Pick the symbol and interval from the settings; you can also change the symbol right inside the chart.

It needs an internet connection, since the chart streams from TradingView; there's no API key to set up.

What the Advanced Chart widget is

TradingView is a social trading network and charting platform for traders and investors, founded in 2011. It offers embeddable widgets, and the Advanced Chart is its free, iframe-based charting widget with a wide range of customization options, so any website can show interactive market charts.

Candlestick charts record four prices per time period: open, high, low and close. The body of the candle spans open to close, coloured by whether the price rose or fell, and the thin lines, or wicks, extend to the extreme prices. Changing the timeframe changes how much trading each candle summarises, so a daily candle and a five-minute candle on the same symbol can tell very different stories.

Which markets and symbols the widget can show depends on TradingView’s data coverage, and each market has its own data level, so some quotes may be delayed rather than real time. The prices come from TradingView, not from this site, and the chart is for display only. Nothing on it is a recommendation, and indicators describe past prices rather than predicting future ones.

A worked example

Set it to NASDAQ:NVDA on the daily and you get NVIDIA's live candles filling the screen. In Multi-view you can run eight at once — AAPL, MSFT, the S&P 500, Bitcoin, Gold and more — each cell on its own symbol, like a trading wall.

Settings & tips

Frequently asked questions

Is this really TradingView?
Yes. It embeds TradingView's official, free Advanced Chart widget, so it's the real interactive chart, not a copy.
Does it need an API key?
No. The public TradingView widget is free and key-less. The saver only needs an internet connection.
Can I change the symbol?
Yes. Pick one in the settings, or use the chart's own symbol search. In Multi-view each cell can show a different symbol.
Does it work offline?
No. The chart streams live from TradingView, so it needs an internet connection; offline it shows a short notice.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no download, in your browser. It loads TradingView's third-party widget to draw the chart.
What is a candlestick?
A candlestick summarises one time period of trading with four values: the opening price, the high, the low and the closing price. The body shows open to close and the wicks show the extremes.
Why might a price look delayed?
TradingView lists a data level for each market in its widget documentation, and some markets are not real time. Check the available-markets list on TradingView for the symbol you chose.
