How the Speedcubing This Weekend screensaver works

The saver reads the source described above and draws it on a canvas — no account, no tracking.

Upcoming World Cube Association competitions, read live and key-less. The WCA sanctions every event where an official record can be set, and the codes are the puzzle: 333bf is solving a cube blindfolded, 333fm is fewest moves worked out on paper.

It refreshes on a schedule, so what you see stays current.

Colours and any options can be changed in settings; nothing is stored beyond your own browser.

The WCA and its event codes

The World Cube Association (WCA) is the governing body for competitive speedcubing, best known for the Rubik’s Cube. It was founded in 2004 and maintains the regulations and the official results. Under those regulations every competition must include a WCA Delegate, who is responsible for making sure the event follows the rules, so the list here is a calendar of official competitions whose results count toward the rankings.

Event codes look cryptic but follow a pattern. 333 is the standard 3x3x3 cube, 222 the 2x2x2, and 444 to 777 the larger cubes. pyram, skewb, sq1, clock and minx are other twisty puzzles. Variants add suffixes: 333oh is one-handed, 333bf blindfolded, 333fm fewest moves and 333mbf multiple blindfolded cubes.

Competitions are announced ahead of time, and organisers can still adjust details, so treat dates as the schedule at the moment of the last refresh. Registration limits and entry fees are set by each organiser and are not what this screen shows.
