Berlin Departures Screensaver
The Berlin Departures screensaver shows every U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus due at a Berlin stop, from the community-run BVG mirror, key-less. It's free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the Berlin Departures screensaver works
The saver reads the source described above and draws it on a canvas — no account, no tracking.
Every U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus due at a Berlin stop, from the community-run BVG mirror, key-less. Delay is signed here, so a service running ahead of schedule shows as early rather than being quietly rounded to on time.
It refreshes on a schedule, so what you see stays current.
Colours and any options can be changed in settings; nothing is stored beyond your own browser.
Reading a Berlin departure board
Berlin's public transport sits inside one integrated fare network, the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg, so a single stop board can mix trains and surface transport. BVG runs the U-Bahn, trams, buses and ferries, while the S-Bahn is run separately by S-Bahn Berlin GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, and all of them can appear in the same departure list.
Line names carry information. U followed by a number is an underground line, S a suburban rail line, and plain numbers identify trams and buses. Lines marked M are MetroTram or MetroBus routes that run frequently, X marks express buses serving selected stops, and an N prefix indicates a night bus. Each departure shows the planned time and the delay, and the delay here is signed, so a negative value means the vehicle is ahead of schedule.
The data comes from a community-run mirror of the transport authority's public data rather than from BVG itself, so availability depends on that volunteer service. A board shows what the system expects, which can change as vehicles are held up. Cancellations, platform changes and disruptions may appear late or not at all, so rely on station displays for decisions.
